399 First Aid Kits, Sitting on a Wall…
Well it’s been a few weeks since we did the Bambino show, which definitely turned out to be a learning curve. It was hard work as there was a lot going on at the stall; we were on our feet talking to people and selling our products throughout the weekend and of course running the charity raffle which raised £250.
We sold none of the first aid kits we got in which was a bit of a surprise, and has left us with a surplus of about 400. Fortunately they have a three-year expiry date and we sell quite a lot of them on the courses so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem
The other surprise was the amount of our courses we sold; more than enough to cover the cost of doing the show; the stand cost us £250 and we made over ten times that in course bookings so it was well worth doing! We’re just looking around to see what other shows are coming up that might be worth doing; because of the success of our child and baby first aid courses we’re particularly interested in exhibiting and promoting the business at children and baby shows.
We’re currently planning a new campaign called ‘Kids Saving Lives’, which we piloted at my sons school. It entails teaching kids some basic first aid: the recovery position, CPR and how to make a 999 call during the course of a 2-hour workshop. The feedback from the school was incredibly positive and they promptly booked us to deliver first aid training to the staff, which is great.
We’re just trying to decide how to fund the project, whether to set it up as a charity or apply for funding from the Local Education Authority. We can’t deliver it without funding as the demand from schools would be greater than we could supply staff for, and we would end up paying trainers to deliver it and losing money. Watch this space for developments…
