Aesthetica goes international
Since Christmas we’ve been really busy – lots has been happening at Aesthetica, so where to start?
Well, we have just employed our new full-time Development Officer, who will be dealing with our growth, sales and marketing. She’s very good and has been a great asset to our team.
We received our proofs of the latest issue back from our printers with no problems, so that’s now done and dusted. We worked with quite a few people on this one, and included in this issue are - the Wellcome Trust, the Baltic, Tate Liverpool and Jamie Hewlett (co-founder and artist for Gorillaz), as he and Damon Albarn are debuting their new opera, ‘Monkey: Journey to the West’ at the Manchester International Festival this summer. We have also been invited to the Wellcome Trust’s Arts Awards launch, which celebrates their investment into sciart, which should be a good event to attend with many networking opportunities.
The big news is that we’re going international! We had a request from Borders in Ireland to supply them with Aesthetica Magazine, so we will be distributing there. We’ve come a long way since I started the company as a student three years ago, and it’s fantastic how we’ve grown.
And on that theme, we are moving offices tomorrow to Rowntree Wharf in York. The office will be about four times bigger, so today will be spent preparing. It should be relatively stress-free as we have removals help, and the new office is kitted out with furniture. The magazine is going through a period of development, so we need more space to expand. The reason for the move is predominately the recent investment that we’ve had in the company - so this change is for the better!
That’s the story so far in 2007 – now all that remains is for me to find some boxes and get packing …
