Positive you’re backing a winning horse?
Of course you are! As every entrepreneur will know, you have good days and bad days in business.
On the bad days you wonder whether you really are flogging a dead horse; you’re probably paying your employees more than you take as the owner, you’re working all hours of the day and night and your entire livelihood is invested in something you feel like only you seem to get.
Have faith because on the good days you’re on top of the world! When somebody else really gets your idea and sees your vision – when you sign that big deal you have been working on for ages – when you feel like YOU are running your business, not the other way round, and you catch a glimpse of the Branson-esque empire that inspired you to start it up in the first place.
For Positive Planet this week has been a good week – highlighted by York Racecourse signing up for a solar hot water system from us! A showcasing building in York, one of the best racecourses in the country and now the first to have solar energy and we are providing it. Local projects are the most exciting for us because the business is able to establish a high profile right here in our local area and we can also offer something back to the our own community. In this case the York Racecourse is a big part of York’s economy and, having secured BREW funding on behalf of the Race Committee, we were able to facilitate a green energy project they have been thinking about for some time. Hopefully this will lead the way for other York-based businesses in boosting sustainability in the City.
The project will be complete by the end of March in time for the racing season so when you are next at the races or at an exhibition at the Knavesmire, chances are you’ll be enjoying the benefits of clean, green, free energy!
For start-up businesses, getting involved in headlining projects can present a real breakthrough. It may not be your biggest project, or make you very much money, but the opportunities and recognition which result from the project can’t be bought. So when you feel like you want to get off the rollercoaster ride that is business, remember the thrill and satisfaction of those good days!
