Things have been going well since my last blog apart from one minor disaster (which I’ll get to later). Last year finished on a very positive note with the highlight most definitely being receiving the Press Young Business Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 and the awards ceremony that came with it.

I’ve had a good few weeks recently, having completed a commission to create a piece of art to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of modern America, which sounds like quite a mammoth task!

Interesting trip last week when I went down to the Architecture Centre in Bristol for a seminar on people and places. The emphasis was to help designers learn how to work with communities on community projects and commissions.

Next week I’ll have been in business two years, which I think is a good time to stop and take stock of how far you’ve come; fortunately August is always pretty quiet so it is a good opportunity to really reflect on everything I’ve achieved.

Went to the Business Link Entrepreneur Awards on Wednesday (18th July) night and was nominated by Science City York for the Young Entrepreneur Category, I was one of three finalists, didn’t actually win but pretty pleased Artstop has been recognised as an upcoming creative business. Good chance to network with about 140 like-minded people, which is so important to a young business.
We’ve spent this week working hard on the Newcastle bus station installation – it’s due to be revealed next Tuesday, so the last few days have meant numerous trips up to Newcastle to make sure that all is running smoothly and going to plan.
It’s been a busy week due to some challenges concerning contractors.
