Living up to customers’ expectations

We are a few short weeks away from opening the farmshop, obviously it is an exciting time but also nerve racking. What will the public think when they walk through the doors? Will everything be ready in time, such as permission for directional signs to the site and an alcohol license? Will we have enough stock? Too much stock? I keep telling myself if we waited until everything was perfect we would never get open, improvements are a continual part of business.

Diving head first into the crazy world of business

Everything seems to have picked up pace with the farm shop development, the building work will be complete in a matter of weeks not months and so it will be then down to ourselves to do all the fitting out, stocking up and staff training before the grand opening.

Passionate about food, farming and the community

When I was asked to write a blog for Business Link about our farmshop and café project it was hard to know where to start. Then I came across something I had written back in 2001 in the midst of the Foot & Mouth outbreak. At the time I was frustrated at the way farming was going, with farmers struggling to pull together a living and losing the trust of the general public.
