Leads, weeds and growing ideas
This week we have been ‘recovering’ (in a good way) from Venturefest 2007, which was a real success and generated a lot of new leads and ideas for the company.
The event took a lot of preparation to get the Don’t Weed it, GEL it! stand ready and because we received such a lot of great leads from it, we have been busily sending out further promotional information to those who requested it. Following up on all of the interest we have received is crucial. We also generated some meetings from the event which have entailed great discussions about developing new products to provide solutions.
That’s what we do best, and though my background is in horticulture, we develop products for many sectors. For example, we work with the car industry and the educational sectors, in addition to the gardening and floristry sector. So we can’t really be pigeon-holed. We have had suggested other uses for our main gel product which we hadn’t before considered - it is important to keep an open mind an to listen to and explore new ideas. (To explain, Gel Deco is a non-toxic, bio-degradable support medium for fresh, dried or artificial flowers which prevents the germination of weeds.)
Though I can’t go into detail, we are currently working with some organisations in order to provide some unique solutions using robotics technology and nanotechnology. These are exciting and long-term projects which I am looking forward to developing. We would like to work with local universities to tap into the knowledge and skills area in ths field. It’s all about product development.
And the next area for development is our website. We are working with a local company (York-based Designition Ltd) to add further pages and content to our site. Once I have written and compiled the information the website will be a really useful tool for the business, so I’m looking forward to referring our customers there.
