Renewable energy - a hot topic
Last week’s pre-budget report was a tremendous boost for Positive Planet, as it detailed new incentives for ‘green’ energy, such as reductions in VAT and £50 million more funding available for microgeneration (onsite small-scale energy generation, solar, wind, geothermal etc). A really positive step for the industry and the environment!
I guess I should say who we are. We’re a leading supplier of solar energy systems, selecting the best, most efficient, practical solutions for domestic and commercial properties. We provide resilient British made systems with bespoke designs to meet specific requirements.
We’re passionate about green energy and making it available to anyone and everyone. Establishing yourself as a small business and raising your profile has been the hardest part, but we want to demystify solar energy for all!
More good news – we’ve heard this week that we have been selected to work with a web usability company, SimpleUsability Ltd, also based on York Science Park, who has offered to mentor us on making our website easier to use and a more effective communication platform. We’re one of 12 ethical companies they’re working with over the next year, advising and mentoring us about our websites, FREE OF CHARGE! So, together we are working hard to make www.positiveplanet.co.uk even better for 2007. We also hope it’ll work harder at getting us some more customers!
I heard a funny story from a friend in business who notes quite rightly that you start your own business thinking that you will be able to work your own hours, and you end up working all 24. So true.
Sneak preview – we have a couple of big projects which I’m dying to talk about as they’re very exciting for Yorkshire, but can’t just yet. Will keep you posted!
