Shoestring Budgets

Shoestring budgets are very small budgets which have been set aside for particular projects.

For example, think of the expression living on a shoestring which is when someone is trying to drastically reduce their living costs.

Applying this term to business we can imagine a start-up company in the first year in business operating on as little money as possible to keep their overheads at a minimum and generate maximum income.

For such companies operating on shoestring budgets, the return on investment from particular projects may be much greater due to the low initial cost invested in the project.
