Show business
We’re flat out at the minute as our long-awaited first trade show, the Bambino show in Harrogate, is at the weekend. We’re quite excited about it! We were approached to see if we wanted a stand in March and we had a look at the price, which seemed quite reasonable, so we decided to go for it! Added to which child and baby first aid is something we’re quite passionate about, so the opportunity seemed perfect.
We’ve been preparing madly getting leaflets printed, the backdrop for the trade stand produced and have bought in about three hundred first aid kits to sell! We weren’t quite sure how many to buy, as it’s such a difficult thing to judge. There are over three thousand people visiting the exhibition, but as we haven’t done one before we had no idea how many goods we could expect to sell in relation to the amount of attendees. In the end we just bought as many as we could afford.
We’re doing a free demonstration of child first aid on the stage during the weekend, and we’re also doing a raffle in aid of Martin House, the children’s hospice. This supports a good cause and we hope will also raise our profile at the event and attract people to the stand. We’ve rung round and got some great prizes from several different companies, so fingers crossed it’ll raise some decent funds.
Something interesting to contend with will be the trade stand of some competition! We looked at the exhibitor list and found them listed so have looked them up on the internet to do a bit of research on the products and courses they offer, which has been really interesting as we’ve not previously been aware of anyone offering the same service as us. Following looking into them though, we still believe we offer a better range of training, products and services.
All in all, we really hope this weekend will bring us face to face with as many potential clients as possible, raise our profile, sell some courses, and raise lots of money for Martin House Hospice. We’d also like to reach some corporate clients, and send out a big ‘We’re here!’
