It’s My Business Info

I’m going to be a role model! I am due to be one of the representative entrepreneurs at The Enterprise Show in York on Sunday 13 May.

On the day I will be there as an ‘example’ of a successful business person for people to come along to the show and ask absolutely any questions of me that spring to mind. They might be considering starting up on their own and need to know what to do next, so us entrepreneurs will be on hand to offer help, advice and guidance. We’ve already been through the process, made the mistakes and come out at the end with a successful business.

Questions are really wide-ranging. Quite often people approach me with an idea that they have for a new product and need some advice on patents and licencing for designs. So it’s people in the very early stages of formulating their ideas. If you are due to be there on the day and need advice on registering your designs, patents, issues such as these, I will be there and ready to speak to you! I can hopefully help from my own experience of going out and doing it.

I don’t feel daunted by advising people as I’ve been through it myself so am in a good position to talk to them. Business Link and Business Advice Centre can offer more comprehensive advice (my fall-back and a great source for anyone anyway!). I’m quite well networked now though so can point people towards other sources of expertise, should I be stumped by a query!

I want to help and offer my services as we were helped so much when we first started. But Don’t Weed it, GEL it! get to network too, to see what new businesses are doing (and ask any questions we might have). If we need any help it’s a one-stop shop really. It’s a lot of things on many levels. We do come away at the end of the day feeling energised by it, it’s always a good day.
