The tricky world of staff appraisals

Since I have last blogged (is that the correct verb use?) I have managed to complete all the staff and volunteers annual appraisals except for one, and I plan to get that one when that member of staff returns from leave.

It’s incredibly time consuming to ask the nine people the same questions, and to be as enthusiastic through the whole process. There were no big surprises, and astonishingly difficult to get people to be honest about what they are happy or unhappy about. I got the distinct feeling that some of them didn’t want to appear to be negative in case it was held against them, but without their comment I can’t change things. Any tips on how to get staff to be constructive in their feedback?

This week the sun is out and we have plenty of bookings for the holiday club, lets just hope that this lasts all summer, lots of bookings = good cash flow ☺.
