To sell or not to sell?
I’m having a difficult few days! My landline hasn’t been working, my mobile is broken and my Internet connection has been down. When you work from home and don’t have the tools to do it it’s a real problem, especially when you’re juggling three jobs.
I’ve been working two jobs developing toiletries for major supermarkets, including a hand wash and kid’s bubble bath range. I start right from scratch making decisions about the formulation, what the product is going to look like, what type of labeling we’ll put on it, what name to give it etc. I’ve actually been offered full time jobs with both of the companies that I’m working for. It’s a difficult position to be in as if I join one company it may jeopardise my relationship with the other company.
I am still working hard on my dress business as well. After the realisation expressed in my previous blog that you can’t please every single person, I have been buying fewer dresses. I’ve just bought three recently but keep having to top up on accessories, because people keep buying things! I’ve been thinking about having a new marketing ploy putting a presence on some Web 2.0 sites such as Facebook or MySpace, apparently it’s the new way to market yourself!
I’m finding people are wanting to buy accessories quite a lot at the moment. It’s difficult when people want to buy things; on the one hand it’s good as it gives me money to invest in more stock but on the other hand it can be even more expensive to replace them. A friend just bought one of my most popular hire wraps so obviously I’m going to need to replace it. I had a look at how much they are at the moment and it’s about $300 to buy another one! That is one of the problems when people say, “I really like it, I want it” and then you think, shall I sell it, shall I not sell it. Most people seem to be really switched on to the fact that it is hire at the moment, but I will sell a few soon.
